The latest things she does...is...says...:We trike almost every day. She does it with "no hands" just like Daddy taught her. It's quite amusing to watch a three year old steer with the knees and do the cool-kid-no-hands thing, on a trike. She dreams about getting a big bike with training wheels for her birthday.
Often things are "for my birthday." Or, "when I'm four." Most recently she has been working the monkey bars. Some days she's on, some she's off. Literally. But on the off days she shrugs it off and says, "That's ok, I'll do it when I'm 4!"
She is totally rocking the diving board, slide, and side jumps, as aforementioned. This week though she added swimming without her vest, which means flying solo... we're trying! Little fishy she will be by summer's end I imagine!
When we're triking or walking or anything outside, she pauses at just about EVERY small flower. To pick for me, for daddy. It's quite precious, to come home with a pocket full of dandelions. I receive each one like a diamond I think-- so dear and beautiful! And I remember... I remember being a lover of the small buds myself as a child, and picking them, presenting them. The full-circle-round bit always takes my breath for a moment.
She talks a lot about baby Jett and what she will do when he arrives. She hugs my tummy a lot, tells me I'm beautiful at least twice every day, and asks funny questions like, "When Jett comes out then can you go ice skating with me?" ...She gets totally weirded out when we talk about nursing, so we'll see how that goes! She would much prefer he begins life in a high chair with macaroni.
This month she has started praying! It's been the most fascinating process, this concept of teaching and belief and faith... we pray daily that we're doing ok as parents. At first when she had a concept of prayer, she would do strange things like hummm while we were praying. Then she learned to be quiet and respectful; then she learned to "pray-sing" -- the good ol' Lutheran way! And most recently she will ask me to start and it will go something like this, B: "Dear God..." Coco: "I just pray for Emily to feel better and to not have to barf and feel sick. And I pray for the Millers to come here safely. And thank you for Daddy, Luka, Mommy, baby Jett. And Lillian." -- and she'll carry on for quite some time. The most amusing prayer, if I could be so bold, was when we were praying with her cousin Caroline and Aunt Amy at lunch. She said, "and I thank you that Caroline is not making boo-hoo choices!" --which prompted Amy and I to just about bust up laughing-- as Coco was clearly in tune with her cousin's choices. So eventually we'll use the word "bad" but for now, "boo-hoo." ;)
Our summer days have been hot and lazy. We go with the flow and usually end up either triking or walking to a park. Park hopping, I like to say. We've spent a great deal of time down at the beach, building sand flowers and towers only to topple them and giggle. She has caught minnows (just like Daddy did when he was a kid!) and created little sand villages for them. We end up picnicking there and coming home sun-kissed and sleepy. And then we wait some more for Jett to come.
